Vineyard Clos Galena is a life project of families Pérez and Dalmau. A dream which became true in 1999 by hard work and passion for wine. The Vineyard is located near El Molar, on the terrains which previously belonged to the monastery of La Cartoixa d´Escaladei. The Vineyard’s name refers to the main mineral of this area: the Galena, which was mined from the nearby mines. Nowadays, the vineyard is made up from 11ha of organically grown local and international grape varieties like garnacha, cariñena, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, garnacha blanca and viogner. From terraces where vines are planted, we can enjoy a beautiful view of Riu Siurana and Planes del Priorat. This privileged environment, climate and slate stone soil, locally known as ¨llicorella¨ define a very particular “terroir” of Priorat and brings us unique wines which awaken our senses and make us discover exceptional notes.
With the vineyard collaborate famous enologist Toni Coca i Fitó, who takes care of these wines to reflect a remarkable nature of the land they come from. Detailed control of production, care of the ecosystem and proximity to the soil are factors which allows vineyard to create these unique wines.
Merche Dalmau, the owner of the vineyard, admits that the best moment of the day is when somebody says that enjoy the vines from Clos Galena as this makes a great value to all hard work done by the family and employees. Clos Galena offers limited production of premium quality, organic wines elaborated from local and international grape varieties, the majority of them aged in French or American barrels. They are exceptional wines with high complexity, full boded and elegant with remarkable pallet of red fruits and intense minerality which specially marks Priorat nature. Wines from Clos Galena have been many times awarded on international competitions like Mundus Vini BioFach, International Wine Challenge or Decanter World Wine Award. Also they have been recognized with high ratings by Robert Parker.
